File submission guidelines

How should I send you my graphic materials?

Large format printing

For quality execution, which is in our mutual interest, well-prepared and carefully thought-out graphic files are necessary.
We would like to assist you in this.
We have tried to gather all the information that you can use as a guide.
We expect the submitted graphic materials to be prepared according to the criteria listed and explained in the following sections.

1 Order process

We can accept orders via email at print@printandcut.hu, or in person via data storage devices.

We will check the received materials. The first check, if we receive the files in the primary file format, does not incur an additional cost; however, in case of further issues, we will charge a verification fee. If everything is in order, we will proceed with the production.

We can accept materials received by 14:00 as same-day orders; orders received after this time will be classified as next-day orders. The urgency surcharges and execution deadlines will be determined based on this time.

For every order, we request an email clearly detailing all the technical parameters of the work to be performed, broken down into files if necessary. The file name must contain the data described in the example, without accents.

2 File formats

Each e-mail should contain only one type of order. For printing requests on different materials, please send each material type in a separate file.

So, for example, if you request printing on a dibond board, vinyl, and banner in one e-mail, please send the graphic files in three separate files, as we handle them on separate work orders.

Primary file formats:

  • JPG
  • MINIMAL COMPRESSION FOR BEST QUALITY
    (Photoshop: 12 Baseline, Corel: 100% Anti-aliased, Illustrator: 10 Baseline)
  • TIFF
  • LAYERS MERGED, WITH LZW COMPRESSION

Secondary file formats:

  • PDF
  • CDR
  • EPS
  • AI

If possible, avoid sending orders in these formats, as graphic elements may be lost when opened in different programs. If you do send in these formats, please include a preview in JPG.

If an order is sent in a secondary format, a conversion fee will be charged. We cannot be responsible for errors that occur during the conversion of files sent in secondary formats.

Fonts must always be converted to curves to prevent font replacement when the file is opened on a different machine. Not all materials and printing technologies are suitable for displaying small fonts.

It’s advisable to check your work in Wireframe mode to ensure that no elements remain in the background that are invisible in normal view.

Fonts must always be converted to curves to prevent font replacement when the file is opened on a different machine. Not all materials and printing technologies are suitable for displaying small fonts.

Each layer must be merged, and the file should be finalized. It’s a good practice to reopen the final file for thorough checking.

  • If you are sending an order with die-cutting or shape cutting, there are two options to be considered as a primary file format:
  • We receive a separate image file and a separate vector file, both containing common graphic elements (e.g., registration marks) for alignment.
  • We receive the file in Corel (up to version X7) format or PDF, where all graphic elements have been converted into a bitmap, and the die-cutting line is placed as a vector on top.

Orders received in formats other than those mentioned above will be returned for reworking.

3 Graphics

  • Default Unit of Measurement:
  • cm

Size

The prepared graphic should be in a 1:1 scale. If you send it in a different size due to technical reasons, please clearly indicate this and also provide the final size of the work.

Resolution

For wide format printing, consider the viewing distance and the size.

Commonly Used Resolutions at 1:1 Scale

0 – 1 m²300 ppi
1 – 2 m²150 – 300 ppi
2 – 5 m²90 – 150 ppi
5 – 20 m²70 – 90 ppi
from 20 m²30 – 70 ppi

Commonly Used Resolutions at 1:1 Scale

0 – 2 m300 ppi
2 – 5 m150 ppi
5 – 10 m70 – 90 ppi
from 10 m30 – 70 ppi

Bleed

By default, bleeds and marks are not necessary for graphics, only the cut size needs to be provided.

Bleeds are required for the following:

  • Double-Sided Banner:
  • It is advisable to coordinate with the prepress team, as it depends on post-processing.
  • Contour-Cut Materials:
  • 2-3 mm bleed.
  • Double-Sided Materials (vinyl, board, etc.)
  • Size-dependent, but generally 0.5-2 cm bleed around the edges.
  • Canvas (stretched on a frame):
  • The graphic should be created with an additional 6 cm bleed on all sides around the desired image size.
  • – Alternatively, the graphic should have at least a 3 cm bleed on all sides around the desired image size, and an additional 3 cm white border on all sides is added during canvas cutting to achieve the optimal 6 cm bleed.

Die-cutting

  • The cutting drawing should be a closed, continuous vector graphic attached in a separate file, matching the size of the graphic. Preferably, it should be in CutContour or Magenta color, with a Hairline thin line indicating the cutting line.
  • There should be no duplicate cutting lines anywhere, meaning there shouldn’t be any sections where the knife would pass twice, as it would tear the material. There should be no distance less than 2 mm between the die-cut lines.

Shape Cutting

  • The cutting drawing should be a closed, continuous vector graphic attached in a separate file, matching the size of the graphic. Preferably, it should be in CutContour or Magenta color, with a Hairline thin line indicating the cut.
  • There should be no duplicate cutting lines anywhere, meaning there shouldn’t be any sections where the knife would pass twice, as it would tear the material.
  • The distance between the cutting lines relative to each other depends on the material, so please coordinate with our colleagues regarding this.

4 File submission

Up to 10 MB

Over 10 MB

  • Send via WeTransfer, but also include an accompanying order email.
  • DO NOT USE GOOGLE DRIVE OR SIMILAR APPLICATIONS!

We do not archive completed, submitted, or closed orders, so we request fresh and fully documented orders every time!

5 Colors

  • Our printers work in CMYK color separation, using the Euroscale Coated v2 ICC color profile.

Color Sample

We guarantee color accuracy only for pre-made color samples that have been approved by the client. Please notify us in advance if you require a color sample! If there is no request for this before the production of the ordered material, we cannot accept any complaints regarding color after printing.

Direct colors (Pantone) and works made in RGB should always be submitted in CMYK, broken down into 4 colors.

  • Tip:
  • After conversion, double-check the color of the printed material!

If the order arrives in the wrong color separation and we have to convert it to CMYK mode, we cannot take responsibility for the final colors, as there may be slight differences in color.

Setting up Black Color

CMYK

50%50%50%100%Rich Black
0%0%0%100%When printing smaller text, if you enlarge it too much, it may appear only as a very dark gray.

6 Verification

Basic Verification for Primary File Formats (.jpg, .tif):

Considering that our print shop exclusively handles orders from resellers, we assume that the materials received by us have been prepared by graphic professionals. If we receive orders in the primary file formats (jpg, tif) while adhering to the information provided in the guidelines, we will only verify the file size and resolution. If these are correct, we will proceed with the requested work.

  • Basic verification for files received in primary file formats (jpg, tif)
  • is free of charge.

Basic Verification for Secondary File Formats (.pdf, .ai, .cdr, .eps):

  • For orders sent in secondary file formats, a conversion and verification fee will be charged:
  • 300 Ft + VAT / file / occasion

Faulty Material

If faulty material is received, we will send it back to the client for reworking. Material is considered faulty if it does not meet the specified size, resolution, or ordering criteria, making it impossible to clearly interpret the work to be done.

  • The first verification is free, and the fee for additional verifications is:
  • 300 Ft + VAT / file / occasion

Graphic Intervention

If necessary and upon request, we can perform minor graphic editing to expedite the collaborative process. Such work includes relocating or supplementing graphic elements, making any degree of modifications, editing bleeds, and creating vector graphics.

  • Graphic editing fee
  • 10 000 HUF + VAT / hour

7 Guarantee and Other Conditions

  • We do not take responsibility for the content of the ordered works (text accuracy, spelling, legality of images, etc.). However, we reserve the right to reject the execution of certain works without providing any justification.
  • Orders are primarily verified based solely on the specified size and resolution.
  • For urgently ordered works, we will do our best to produce the best print, but we cannot guarantee it (drying time).
  • We cannot guarantee the correctness of improperly saved composite PDF materials, as layer swaps and other setting issues may occur.
  • The manufacturer provides a 12-month UV guarantee for the inks we use, which we also guarantee. However, we cannot take responsibility for print fading beyond this time frame.
  • Due to technology, printed materials require 24-48 hours of drying time for perfect adhesion. If printed materials are used within this timeframe, inadequate adhesion may occur, causing the edges of the material to curl. We cannot guarantee this scenario.
  • We cannot guarantee damages caused by incorrect placement of the materials we manufacture using improper technology.
  • Glue solidifies below 5 degrees Celsius and loses its adhesive properties, potentially damaging the work. We cannot take responsibility for damages caused in this manner.
  • We cannot guarantee colors if we have to convert materials to a color separation not specified in the guidelines. We only guarantee color accuracy for pre-made color samples that have been approved by the client.
  • We cannot provide full guarantee for color consistency in works produced at different times. We use multiple machines with similar printing processes, which may result in variations. Periodic calibration of printing machines may cause color discrepancies. The color of the inks used and the quality of the substrates may vary slightly. Colors in older works may fade over time.
  • We cannot guarantee damages occurring during transportation for carefully packaged works handed over to various external carriers, nor can we guarantee the delivery deadline of the package.
  • We provide value guarantee for prints up to the production value maximum.
  • Printed materials may deviate by ±2% from the ordered size due to printing technologies and post-processing. We can only guarantee a new production in warranty for larger deviations. If precise dimensions are required, this must be indicated separately. In this case, the material to be printed must already be larger so that it can be adjusted to the exact size during post-processing.
  • It is the client’s responsibility to check the manufactured products for quality, size, and quantity before placement. If someone notices an error at the placement site without prior inspection, we cannot cover the costs of re-visits and re-installation. We promptly correct any defective performance and deliver it to the client at our own expense, but we do not take responsibility for any additional costs incurred.

8 Operational Prices

  • Basic verification of materials received in primary file format: free of charge.
  • Conversion fee for materials received in secondary file format: 300 HUF + VAT / file / occasion.
  • Extended verification at the client’s request due to errors: 300 HUF + VAT / file / occasion.
  • Graphic editing* fee: 10 000 HUF + VAT / hour.

* Editing bleeds, contour, and shape cutting lines is considered graphic editing.
